Warwickshire's Abbey Gittings has just won her latest tournament on the US women's college circuit while English girls' champion Hayley Davis also claimed another high finish.

Abbey, from Walmley, is a student at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, and scored a one-shot victory with a pair of 74s in the Lady Falcon Invitational at the LPGA International course.

Afterwards she told her college website: "I wasn't hitting the ball consistently on the range and knew I had to go on the course and grind my way through it! I just took every shot one at a time and tried to enjoy the excitement of playing in the last group.

"I knew coming down 18 I was ahead by one but kept cool and made a steady par. It was a tough and challenging course so I am extremely happy that I won the individual medallist."

This was Abbey's second college victory and coach Amanda Brown commented: "Abbey's competitive spirit really gave her an edge over her competitors in the last group. I expect her to be consistently in contention to win the rest of the season."

Meanwhile, Hayley Davis - who has just joined Baylor University, Texas - secured her second consecutive second-place. She was two-under par in the Branch Law Firm / Dick McGuire Invitational in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and one stroke behind the winner.

Hayley, from Ferndown, Dorset, was one of only three players to finish under par for the tournament and had rounds of 72-73-72. She also helped Baylor to win the team event, finishing four shots clear of their closest rivals.
