Jodi ends amateur career with top-class rankings

England star Jodi Ewart has bowed out of amateur golf with a fantastic send-off from the US women's college circuit.

Jodi, whose home club is Catterick in Yorkshire and has spent the past four years at the University of New Mexico, has been ranked fourth in US women's college golf by Golfweek.

It's the highest-ever ranking for the two-time English strokeplay champion, England international and Curtis Cup player.

Jodi was also named to the All-American First Team by the National Golf Coaches Association - a huge honour in US college golf. This was the third time she'd been named an All-American.

Meanwhile the University of New Mexico (UNM) is applauding Jodi as arguably its greatest woman golfer after four years in which she had had five wins among 23 top ten finishes.

It's also being argued that she is the most accomplished UNM student in any sport. She's the only university student to be named Mountain West Conference Player of the Year as a freshman, sophomore, junior and senior.

Jodi decided against a place in the GB&I team for next month's Curtis Cup in favour of a quick start in the professional ranks. Next week she will tee up on the US Duramed Futures Tour in the Ladies Titan Tyre Challenge at Marion, Iowa, from June 4 to 6.
