AMERICAN
GOLF-UK'S SECOND ANNUAL WOMEN IN GOLF DAY DRAWS OVER 1,500 WOMEN
THROUGHOUT ENGLAND
Event
raises over £2,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
American Golf-UK's second annual Women in Golf Day held on Saturday
24th April, repeated the phenomenal success of last year's event
with over 1,500 ladies attending the day.
Staged
at all 17 private, resort and daily fee golf courses operated by
American Golf-UK in England, Women in Golf Day is designed to introduce
golf to women in a fun, non-intimidating environment and is open
to women of all ages and skill levels. In addition to golf instructional
clinics taught by American Golf professionals, Women in Golf Day
activities included golf etiquette lessons, putting contests, fashion
shows, luncheons and refreshments, raffles and other exciting events
custom-designed by each participating course.
"American
Golf has always embraced the fundamental philosophy of inclusiveness
in player participating. Over recent years this philosophy has been
realised in improving efforts to enhance our position as golf' preeminent
player development company. Women in Golf Day is just one of, yet
a very important aspect of this player development initiative. For
several years now women have provided the game of golf with one
of its largest segments of new golfers and it is our job at American
Golf-UK to acknowledge, enhance and nurture this important market
segment in the game", said American Golf-UK's Managing Director,
Geary Leathers.
While
all activities were free of charge, American Golf was delighted
to continue its support of Marie Cure Cancer Care by running fun
competitions and giving participants the opportunity to support
the charity in its ever-increasing battle against cancer. Over £2,000
was raised for the charity.
Women
in Golf Day UK sponsors include Hildon Water, Hippo, Pierre Lange,
Vantage and Women and Golf magazine. Next year's event will be announced
shortly and the event will be repeated at American Golf Corporation
courses in the US on 15th may when over 18,000 women are expected
to take part.
Since
last year's event, American Golf-UK has continued its expansion
programme with the acquisition of five more courses in the Essex,
Hertfordshire and Sussex area. The company is now the largest operator
of golf facilities in eh UK and employs nearly 1,000 men and women
nationwide. It is part of American Golf Corporation, the world's
largest golf course operator, based in California, with 325 courses.
