WELSH GOLFING UNION:
CAMPBELL AND DONALDSON MAKE MOVE

Ian Campbell and Jamie Donaldson made significant moves in the Konica Order of Merit during the last week. Campbell's magnificent performance in reaching the Semi Final of the British Amateur Championship at Royal County Down earned him 150 points which was enough to take him to third place in the table. Jamie Donaldson at last played to his true form whilst defending the Aberconwy Trophy leaving Lee Harpin trailing in second place. Donaldson's 100 points moves him up to fifth in the table and also secured his selection in the Welsh side to play in the European Team Championship in Monticello later this month.

Neil Matthews continues to head the table by some distance, he performed well in reaching the last 16 of the British Amateur Championship and although looking jaded from his exploits in Ireland managed to tie sixth in the Aberconwy Trophy. Harpin's second place finish in the Aberconwy Trophy consolidated his position in the Konica table and he remains Matthews' closest challenger.

The Welsh Open Stroke Play Championship is the next Order of Merit event and Northop Golf and Country Club will see a very strong field challenge for the title from 18th-20th June.
