SCOTLAND SQUAD TO PRACTICE IN ITALY

Scottish Team Captain George Macgregor will be accompanying six players for practice and training in Monticello Golf Club, Italy from 22-25 April in preparation for the European Team Championship which will be played there at the end of June.

This will be Macgregor's first trip abroad with a squad since his appointment as Scottish Captain. He is however no stranger to the European event, playing in no fewer than seven Championships and being a member of the winning sides of 1975 and 1985.

In 1997 at Portmarnock, Scotland finished in second place to Spain while their last European success was in 1995 at the Royal Antwerp Golf Club. It is likely that Graham Rankin will be the only survivor of that team although he is not available for the practice session nor are Ewan Forbes and Craig Watson.

Simon MacKenzie and David Patrick, winners already this year of 72 hole stroke e play events, are included in the squad alongside Steven Carmichael, Andrew Framer, Graham Fox and Lorne Kelly.

Bert Leslie, the Senior Team Manager, will also be accompanying Macgregor and the players.
