GRAHAM
RANKIN has finished top of the 1999
Johnnie Walker Order Of Merit, the third year in a row that
the Drumpellier-based player has been Scotland's leading
amateur golfer.
In
claiming the title, Rankin again pushed Lorne Kelly of Cowal into
second place, 180 points behind Rankin's winning total of 650.
Rankin,
33, won the title with victories in the Scottish Stroke-Play and
the 1998 Leven Gold Medal, second place in both the Tennant Cup
and the South East District, third in the Lytham Trophy and last
eight in the Johnnie Walker Scottish Amateur.
He
also tied for second place in the West of Scotland Open and was
fourth at Craigmillar Park but, since only six events are allowed
to count, the points gained in these events are discarded.
