Lucky Tom's Sixth Hole-in-One

Holidays are lucky for golfer Tom Urick of Virginia, Minn.

Urick recorded his sixth hole-in-one on Monday, Yom Kippur, at the Spooner Golf Course.

All but one of his aces have come on or near holidays.

"I'm just lucky," said Urick, who has been golfing for 46 years. "It's amazing."

Urick used an 8-iron to ace the par 3, 135-yard fourth hole. It was his second time playing the Spooner course this year.

"This is the first one I've actually seen go in," the 58-year-old Urick said. "It bounced once on the green and went right in. It was kind of neat."

The former Mesabi East High School business teacher has recorded his other five aces at the Virginia Municipal Golf Course.

His first two were recorded over a Labor Day weekend, the fourth over a Memorial Day weekend while his most recent one was recorded during the Fourth of July weekend this summer.

Clyde Frosaker, Jeff Spolar and Buddy Johnson witnessed Monday's hole-in-one. Another foursome -- Buzzy Kozar, Tim Drobnick, Billy McKenzie and Jim Altobelli -- also witnessed the event.
