SCOTTISH GOLF: TEAM TO PLAY IRISH YOUTHS

Mark Loftus, already a winner this season, is one of six players selected to play against the Irish Youths at Cork Golf Club on 23rd June.

Last month the Cowglen player won the Edward Trophy at Glasgow (Gailes) and finished second in the Brabazon Trophy. He was also one of the double winners in last year's match at Bruntsfield Links where Scotland beat Ireland 7-2.

Also in the side are double boys champion Steven O'Hara and Chris Campbell, both 1998 boy's caps. Mark Donaldson, the runner-up in the 1998 Scottish Championship, Lee Rhind, the 1997 Boys Stroke Play Champion plus Fraser McLaughlin.

The players will also play in the Irish Youths Stroke Play Championship at the same course on 24th and 25th June, which has become the Irish qualifying event for the Canon European Under 21 Golf Championships.
