WELSH GOLFING UNION:
HARPIN CLOSES ON MATTHEWS

Lee Harpin secured his first Order of Merit victory of the season at the Clwyd Open. Harpin who opened the tournament with a 65 collects 100 Konica Order of Merit points to close in on leader Neil Matthews. Kyron Sulivan gained the runners up spot for the second week running with Steve Williams finishing in third sport.

Matthew Griffiths, now occupies the 7th spot and David Ames slips to 8th. The players nerves will be tested over the next couple of weeks as each competitor will be anxious to guarantee a place for Royal County Down by finishing in one of the coveted top 7 places.

The Konica Order of Merit now moves to South Wales where the Tucker Trophy will be contested over Whitchurch and Newport golf clubs on 17th and 18th July.
