A UNIQUE HOLIDAY EXPERIENCE
FOR JUNIOR GOLFERS

A group of 30 boys and girls, aged between 8 and 17, spent a week in Scotland last month at the inaugural Grass Roots Golf summer camp. The juniors, from 7 different countries across Europe, played 5 different courses in Fife, Stirlingshire and Perthshire and took lessons throughout the week from Kevin Craggs, the Director of Golf.

"Golf Camps are very common in the United States," says Camp Director, David Kelly, "but there has until now been no similar experience available to junior golfers in the United Kingdom. Scotland is the ideal setting for a camp of this nature and its facilities, courses and other attractions helped us to achieve the camp's objectives."

The objectives are for each camper to enjoy a great camp and make new friends; to gain a greater appreciation and understanding of the game of golf' and to significantly improve their golf game.

A unique element of the week's camp was the Grass Roots Greats programme, which provided the campers with an insight into the common traits held by many of the world's successful sportsmen and celebrities. This self development programme encouraged them to think big, to set goals and to adopt proven techniques on how to achieve these goals.

"We think most of the campers gained something from the week," says David Kelly. "We've already had letters from them saying how positive thinking and self-belief have translated into better scores on the golf course, while one of the campers went home to win his junior championship the next day!"
