GRAMPIAN HOUSTON JUNIOR GOLF
SELECTS 1999 TEAM

A group of young golfers in the North and North East of Scotland are to travel to the United States to receive coaching from some of the top names in the game thanks to the Grampian Houston Junior Golf scheme.

Twelve junior golfers in the North and North East of Scotland have been selected for at trip of a lifetime to Houston in the United States. The party will travel to Houston in October and will receive coaching from top US golf coaches, compete against local college teams and have the opportunity to find out about college scholarships in the United States.

In the 7 years since Grampian Houston Junior Golf was founded, 7 of the participants have won scholarships to US colleges. Currently there are six former participants studying in the US having won scholarships.

The young golfers are nominated by golf clubs in the area and must be under the age of 18. Bill Connon, Chairman of Grampian Houston Junior Golf praised the standard of this year's applicants. He said, "The interpersonal skills at the interviews and the high standard of their game made this year's selection very difficult.
