JUNIORS
TO BENEFIT FROM NEW
APPOINTMENTS AT THE GOLF FOUNDATION
In
order to continue promoting junior golf, The Golf Foundation have
appointed regional development officers in English Golf.
These
first ever appointments are one of the initiatives of the England
Junior Golf Partnership - involving the Golf Foundation, English
Golf Union and English Ladies Golf Association.
The
appointees are Philip Beard from Llandudno (North); Chris Jew from
Worcester (Midlands): Brendon Pyle from Burton, Somerset (South
West); and Stuart Armstrong from Banbury (South East).
Over
the next three years, the regional development officers aim to:
- Encourage
more clubs to promote junior golf
- Teach golf
to over 80,000 school children and prepare them for places at
golf clubs with junior handicaps
- Introduce
Tri-Golf - a new version - to children from the age of four at
over 3,000 primary schools
- Support the
325 Starter Centres nationally and encourage young golfers to
take up the Merit Award Scheme
