EGU LAUNCH JUNIOR CLUB
COACHING PROGRAMME

The English Golf Union in association with Bowring Sport & Leisure Insurance Services, together with Royal & SunAlliance, are pleased to announce a new initiative aimed at attracting more young people to the game of golf and golf clubs.

Bowring Sport & Leisure Insurance Services in partnership with Royal & SunAlliance have agreed to assist with the Junior Golf Development Programme in England. The Programme has also received additional support from SportsMatch, the Government incentive scheme for sponsorship in sport.

The sponsorship of the programme will give a welcome boost to the England Junior Golf Partnership's plans for junior golf in England. The initiative will be delivered by the English Golf Union to encourage golf clubs to accept more junior members and help deliver Junior Club Coaching Programmes.

The proposal is to offer a grant of £100 towards junior club coaching and golf clubs applying will also invest another £100 making a total of £300. This will give boys and girls 10 one hour coaching sessions delivered by PGA professional coaches.

All golf clubs in England affiliated to the English Golf Union have been invited to apply for the grant on a first come first serve basis and the scheme aims to reach 3000 young golfers at 300 clubs in its first year. All golf club captains have been notified with the information and asked to promote the initiative within their clubs.
