EGU OFFER FREE GOLF COACHING AS PART OF THEIR NATIONAL DRIVE TO DEVELOP THE GAME

The English Golf Union, the governing body for mens amateur golf in England, has launched a new coaching scheme in an effort to introduce more people to the game of golf. The initiative sponsored by leading equipment manufacturer Prosimmon, which has also received Sportsmatch funding, offers free golf coaching for beginners.

Following two pilot days supported by the Burhill Group at Ramsdale Park and Hoebridge Golf Centres, further sessions have been arranged in conjunction with Clubhaus at three locations on Saturday 23rd October - Chesfield Downs, Hertfordshire, Seedy Mill, Staffordshire and The Warwickshire GC, Warwickshire.

The English Golf Union invests regularly in the development of golf at grass roots level. Paul Baxter, EGU Secretary states: "Coaching is a vital ingredient to the enjoyment of the game. This initiative will introduce more people into the game, help their understanding of the basic skills and encourage a long term interest in golf."

The free golf coaching will be conducted by fully qualified professional coaches with group lessons lasting for one hour (five beginners per hour). Golf clubs and practice balls will be provided. Any beginners wishing to take advantage of this offer should phone the English Golf Union on 01526 354500 quoting "Free Golf Coaching" to book a time slot and then just turn up on the day in comfortable clothing and footwear.
