GOLFING UNION:
ROBERTS TAKES CARAD TITLE
After
a relatively slow start to the season, Stuart Roberts won the Carad
Trophy last weekend after an excellent last round 65. Roberts earned
100 valuable Konica Order of
Merit points which moves him up to sixth place in the table
and into the automatic (top 7) selection places for the Home Internationals.
Kyron
Sullivan and Matthew Griffiths also made the most of the absence
of Wales' top 6 players (competing in the European Team Championships
in Italy) with second and third place finishes respectively.
With
only 3 events remaining in the 1999 Konica Order of Merit, Neil
Matthews continues to hold a healthy lead, however, Craig Williams,
Lee Harpin, Ian Campbell and Jamie Donaldson are all more than capable
of overtaking his should he slip.
The
next event in the Konica Order of Merit is the Clwyd Open to be
played at Wrexham and Prestatyn Golf Clubs on 10th and 11th July.
