Under 5's Grow at Canford

Who say's that Golf is just for the retired? The under 5's membership of the Canford Kids who play every weekend at the Canford Magna Golf Club near Wimborne has grown to 20. The total membership for the juniors who have joined the heavily subsidised classes at the Academy is now over 300. The weather during the extremely wet winter last year did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm for the weekend golf classes.

Roger Tuddenham, the Head Professional, says that as more youngsters wish to join the award winning 45 hole complex, he and his team have extended the hours at the full facility Golf Academy to ensure that they can meet demand for the summer intake. He says that the standard of play being achieved by many of the young golfers is impressive and is aided by the willingness and determination to learn. Part of the appeal of the Academy, that in its own right covers 12 acres near the main course, are its facilities. Not only does it have its own 6 hole course complete with bunkers, but a driving range with covered bays, pitching and chipping greens and 10 professionals to ensure that anyone of any age can improve their play.

Billy-Joe Bugden, aged 4 from Throop, recently won the club's under 5 tournaemnt and came 2nd in the T.Pegs 7 and under competition.
