Sir Michael for President

 

At the last meeting of The Golf Foundation Council, Sir Michael Bonallack was unanimously elected to become its next President, succeeding Bernard Gallacher OBE who completes his five-year term of office in May 2001.

Sir Michael, who is currently a Vice-President, was Chairman of the Foundation from 1977 to 1983.

The Council also approved the nomination of Bernard Gallacher to serve on its Executive Committee upon completion of his service as President.

Ian Peacock, the Chairman of The Golf Foundation said, "I am delighted that Sir Michael has agreed to become our President. Michael has a unique knowledge and understanding of the world of golf and with his enthusiasm for the junior game will, I am sure, make a valuable contribution to our work. I am also delighted that Bernard is prepared to continue his involvement with The Golf Foundation, for whom he has been such a great asset during his term of Presidency."
