LEXUS SUPPORTS GOLF DEVELOPMENT

Lexus has today announced an exciting new initiative, which forms part of their total golf sponsorship programme.
‘The Lexus Mentoring Programme’, which was launched by the company’s Tour ambassador, Colin Montgomerie at the Lexus Cup Final in Italy, is designed to provide support to the top amateurs in Europe.

The initiative will be offered to 15-year old Emma Cabrera from Spain and 19-year old Barry Hume from Scotland, the two winners of the Lexus European Under 21 Championships, and will provide them with an invaluable insight into life as a competitive golfer.

Working closely with the R&A, the unions and golf federations, Monty has pledged to provide an e-mail advice and coaching facility for the two young golfers for a period of one year. In addition to that, each golfer will be eligible to receive personal coaching at the Colin Montgomerie Academy at Turnberry.

Life as a competitive golfer, however, is not only about playing golf. Lexus and Colin Montgomerie have recognized this and built career guidance into the Mentoring Programme. This will include personal guidance on the development of a golfing career on and off the course; media training with top journalists; as well as more holistic training in the form of sports psychology, nutrition and physiotherapy.

Colin Montgomerie said of the scheme: “Life as a golfer is highly competitive and there are so many unforeseen circumstances that can effect performance. By putting together this programme, myself and Lexus hope to give these youngsters a great head start.”
