Teams Up With Adidas
Adidas and the English Golf Union have signed a three-year agreement
for all international England teams to wear adidas Golf clothing.
The official
uniform - which has the cross of St George as well as the EGU's
red rose logo - was unveiled last month when England beat Spain
at El Prat in Barcelona.
Under the agreement,
adidas will supply shirts, trousers, sweaters,
waterproofs, hats and other clothing as well as the Z Traxion shoe
which is
worn by more than 30 players on the European Tour including former
leading
amateurs Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose.
"We are delighted
to be supporting the English Golf Union and its
representative teams with footwear and apparel for the next three
years,"
said Robin Gibson, European marketing manager of TaylorMade adidas
Golf.
"This deal cements
adidas' support for amateur golf in England and formalises
the use of adidas products, which had already become the footwear
of choice
for the majority of the England team players."
The agreement
also applies to England's under-16, boys and youth teams.
EGU secretary Paul Baxter said: "This arrangement continues our
desire to
partner leading companies in the pursuit of excellence."
