WELSH
GOLFING UNION:
MIKE COLE ELECTED PRESIDENT
Mike
Cole was formally elected President of the Welsh Golfing Union at
a meeting of the Council on 27 February 2000.
Mike,
who is past Chairman of Tredegar Park Golf Club where he has been
a member since 1966, will hold office until February 2002 when he
will be succeeded by Brian Andrews, the current Chairman of the
Welsh Golfing Union's Championship Committee.
Mike
has served on the Welsh Golfing Union Council since 1983 during
which time he has demonstrated great versatility sitting on a variety
of Welsh Golfing Union Sub Committees whilst also representing Wales
on a number of external bodies. In recent years Mike has chaired
the Boys Committee and the Welsh Golf Course Committee represented
the Welsh Golfing Union on the Golf Foundation and he remains Wales'
representative on the Greenkeeper Training Committee.
Mike,
who succeeds John Roger Jones as President, is determined to carry
on the good work of this predecessors whilst also developing his
own ideas in the vital areas of Junior and Senior Golf.
