WELSH
GOLFING UNION:
AUSTRALIA BOUND
Jamie
Donaldson and Neil Mathews will represent Wales in the 2000 Lake
Macquarie Amateur at Belmont Golf Club, New South Wales from 27-30
January.
This
will be the first time that the Welsh Golfing Union has competed
in this event. The English and Scottish Golf Unions have been competing
for a number of years and the Welsh Golfing Union are keen to develop
the ability of its players by promoting them with as much international
competition as possible.
The
pair will face stiff competition with Paul Casey and Luke Donald
forming a formidable partnership for England, whilst Australia will
be represented by Aaron Baddeley and Brett Runford, who have won
the Australia Opena dn the ANZ Players Championships respectively
in recent week.
Ahead
of the challenge Jamie Donaldson said: "This is a wonderful
opportunity, not only for myself and Neil but also for the Welsh
Golfing Union and we expect to compete for the championship."
