Uncharitable Hole-in-One

Fundraisers had to pay out £10,000 to amateur golfer Andy Bispham after he shot an amazing hole-in-one at their charity bash.

The King George Fund for Sailors offered the cash prize to anyone who could hole out from the tee. The charity had not planned for such an unlikely event and officials were forced to contact their insurance company in order to pay out five times more than they had managed to raise.

Bispham, a Petty Officer Steward in the Royal Navy who has a handicap of 22, suggested that his wife would have a better idea than him of how to spend the money.

The event, at the China Fleet Country Club in Saltash, Cornwall, raised just £2,000.
