WELSH GOLFING UNION:
CHANGES TO NATIONAL ELITE SQUAD
The
Welsh Golfing Union have made more changes to their National Elite
Squad in the final preparations for the 2000 Home Internationals.
Two players have been added to the squad since their return from
college in America. Both Alex Smith (Pyle & Kenfig) and Stuart
Manley (Mountain Ash) have impressed on their return from the States
especially in helping Wales claim the bronze medal at the European
Youth Team Championship at Kilmarnock, Scotland.
For
Smith it is a welcome return to the squad after representing Wales
at the 1998 Home Internationals at Royal Porthcawl where he won
four points out of a possible five. Manley comes into the squad
for the first time having progressed during the winter whilst at
college in Florida and made a huge impression with his maturity
at the European Youths Team Championship.
Steve
Williams from Clay’s Farm has been removed from the squad.
