Scot to Become English President

Bill Bryce of Royal Mid-Surrey Golf Club has accepted an invitation to become president of the English Golf Union (EGU) in 2002.

A 66-year old Scotsman with a long history of golf administration, Bryce joined Royal Mid-Surrey on moving south in 1960. He was club champion in 1963 and 1974, the year he became its youngest captain since the late Duke of Windsor. He played for Surrey from 1970 to 1976, served three years as county captain from 1974 and was its President from 1986 to '88.

Bryce still serves on the Surrey executive which he joined in 1966.
