Puerto
Rico Wins the Vote
Puerto Rico
will host the World Amateur Team Championships in 2004, the year
of its golf association's 50th anniversary.
"Despite
a splendid bid from Argentina, Puerto Rico thoroughly deserves its
selection," said R&A secretary Peter Dawson, who is also
joint secretary of the event's organising body.
Berlin hosted
the women's Espirito Santo Trophy and the men's Eisenhower Trophy
last month, and the two 72-hole strokeplay events will reconvene
in two years' time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The dates and
host courses in Puerto Rico will be announced within the next few
months.
