Hoch Misses Open Again

Scott Hoch has once again underlined his disliking for British golf by being the only player in the world top-50 not to enter the millennium Open at St Andrews from July 20-23.

The 44-year-old American Ryder Cup player has played in only three Opens throughout his career, twice missing the cut and tying for 68th when the championship was last staged over the Old Course in 1995.

The rest of the game's leading players, though, are among a record entry of 2,460 golfers this year - smashing the previous maximum of 2,222 for the 1998 Open at Royal Birkdale.
