WGU to Endorse The Golf Club Secretary

Welsh Golfing Union President Mike Cole recently announced that “In recognition of the greatly increased responsibilities that clubs face in areas such as employment, health & safety, VAT, and general administration, the Union will pay 50% of the annual subscription to The Golf  Club Secretary Newsletter (currently £130), for all Welsh Clubs affiliated to the WGU, including existing subscribers to The GCS.  We shall be writing to our Clubs with the details.”

The final agreement was concluded during the Millennium Open Championship at St Andrews.  Commenting on this unique arrangement WGU Secretary Richard Dixon said “For a long time the WGU has been concerned to ensure that all our clubs are aware of their legal requirements, we believe that The GCS will greatly assist in doing this and of course the Helpline will be invaluable in obtaining prompt advice.  Also in future we shall be able to co-operate with The GCS in staging a number of management seminars”.

Michael Coffey Publisher of the Golf Club Secretary  said “Naturally I am delighted by this announcement from the Welsh Golfing Union, which is a major milestone in The GCS’s development.  As part of this package we are providing a number of back issues to each new subscriber and a copy of the Master Index to all clubs, which will allow secretaries to obtain information on every topic that we have covered in nearly 10 years”.
