TRIO IN CHIBERTA

David Dixon (Enmore Park), Graeme Clark (Doncaster) and Oliver Watson (Coxmoor) have been selected to represent England in the annual Chiberta Grand Prix, near Biarritz, France, on 18-20 August.

Dixon, 23, who will act as team manager, won the Lytham Trophy in May, his first England call-up follows a string of other notable performances including playing a major role in the Somerset Team, which will contest the English County Finals at Little Aston at the end of September.

Clark, 24, the1999 Yorkshire champion and Order of Merit winner, was a member of last year’s victorious Yorkshire side that won the English County title for the third successive year. He was also second in the Lagonda Trophy and third in the Berkhamstead Trophy while this will be the second England representative honour of the season following his section for the Spanish Amateur Championship in March.

Wilson, 19, is a former Under-16 and Boy international who has not featured on the scene for a couple of years because he has been studying in the United States. He is at Augusta State, the same college as England international Jamie Elson.

The Chiberta competition is medal stroke play over 54 holes with individual and team awards. To date, the title has yet to be won by an English trio.
