BROMSGROVE
MAKES NATIONAL COACHING DEBUT
Bromsgrove
made its mark on England's sporting map when the town hosted its
inaugural coaching session for some of the country's most gifted
young golfers.
Nine
of the English Golf Union's junior players gathered at the Bromsgrove
Golf Centre's first ever national coaching session following the
EGU's decision to make the Stratford Road complex the only approved
training centre in the West Midlands.
Under
the expert eye of EGU West Midlands Coach, John Cook, the players
drawn from clubs in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire,
Warwickshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire went through
their paces on the course, as well as learning about other aspects
of the game including sports psychology, fitness and nutrition and
tournament preparation.
EGU
Junior Delegate, Ron Snelling, said the coaching session held on
4-5 March had been a tremendous success: "Bromsgrove offered
a really warm welcome in an environment and atmosphere which fitted
perfectly with the needs of our talented youngsters."
"The
weekend served to illustrate why we chose Bromsgrove in the first
place and we are confident that our up-and-coming players will benefit
from national training sessions in our new surroundings."
Bromsgrove
Golf Centre Director, Adam Morris received the EGU's plaque to mark
the Centre's new status as the Union's only approved coaching centre
of excellence throughout the West Midlands.
In
addition to the national picture, Bromsgrove will also be accommodating
16 of the region's finest under-18-year olds at the Midland Golf
Union's training session on 25-26 March.
