FOOLING AROUND FOR
BRITAIN'S TOP BLIND GOLFERS
April
Fool's Day will be serious business for the cream of the country's
blind golfers when they tee-off for their national training weekend
at the Bromsgrove Golf Centre.
More
than two dozen men and women from Britain's blind golf circuit will
take part in the two-day coaching sessions on 1-2 April at the Stratford
Road course - the third consecutive year Bromsgrove has hosted the
event.
English
Blind Golf Association director Barry Ritchie, said: "This
training weekend acts as the curtain raiser to the domestic blind
golf season. We will have up to four PGA teaching professionals
on hand to help our players improve all facets of their game, prior
to the season getting underway with the English Matchplay Championships
in mid-April."
During
the weekend the players will spend six hours improving their play,
with the rest of the time occupied by seminars which will examine
other aspects of golf, such as player psychology, course management,
rules and etiquette.
Mr
Ritchie said that the forthcoming season promised to be particularly
challenging with the World Blind Golf Championships being held in
Scotland in September, only three days after the conclusion of the
British Blind Open Championships.
He
added: "Many of the players taking part at Bromsgrove will
be competing at these international tournaments, so it's important
we make the most of the training and tuition. Equally, the weekend
caters for the needs of novice players who are just starting out
in blind golf."
