Alison Launches Schools' Initiative

Solheim Cup star Alison Nicholas helped to launch the Golf Foundation's new Tri-Golf initiative, which aims to attract young children to the sport.

The former US Women's Open champion was joined at the recent GolfExpo show at the NEC by a bus load of local schoolchildren to put the Tri-Golf game, which is designed for children aged between four and 10, to the test.

Tri-golf equipment is colourful and safe to use both indoors and outside. The plastic clubs, designed with extra loft to give children the best chance of getting the ball airborne from their first golf swings, are accompanied by a resource pack to provide teachers with ideas for games and activities.

Said Nicholas: "This is a fun game and I'm sure it's going to make it easier for young people, particularly girls, to get started in golf."
