DAVID LEADBETTER PROSPECTS TOUR 2000

 

Rules & Regulations

Age Requirement All amateur male golfers, aged twenty-three or under on 1 January 2000 are eligible to enter. The tournament is limited to sixty entrants per event on a space available basis.
Handicap Requirements The Prospects Tour is a scratch tournament and for the most part, those with the lowest handicaps will be selected as members.
Entry Qualification

To be considered for entry, all entrants will be required to submit the following:

  • completed official Prospects Tour entry form
  • current handicap certificate
  • a playing record print out, if possible
  • card of home course
  • stamped, self, addressed envelope
Caddie Policy Competitors will be allowed to use a caddie who must be suitably attired in golf clothing and excluding jeans. Caddies may not wear spiked shoes and must wear flat bottomed training type shoes in order to limit damage to greens and tee areas. Caddies must take charge of golf clubs at all times during tournament play and each competitor is responsible for the conduct of his caddie at all times on tournament and practice days.
Rules of Play The R&A Rules of Golf will govern lay and players will compete in three ball groups. Local rules at each course played on the tour will apply. The Official Tournament Referee will resolve all disputes regarding any aspect of tournament play. The decision of the Tournament Director will be final.
Etiquette

All aspects of golf etiquette must be strictly adhered to at all times and the following are not permitted:

  • the wearing of any visible body pierced rings
  • inter-player gambling
  • swearing
  • spitting

Failure to comply with these rules could result in disqualification or expulsion from the Tour.

Dress Code All competitors must be suitably attired in proper golf clothing. The code of dress for the clubhouse must be adhered to at each club visited throughout the Tour.
Spectators Spectators will be allowed on the course at the discretion of each venue being played on the Tour, and may follow a match at a distance. They are prohibited from interfering with play in any way and must not walk along the fairways or on the tees or greens. Any player guilty of communicating with anybody other than fellow competitors, official caddies or tournament officials during play will be disqualified. Each player is responsible for the spectators that he is associated with.
Player Responsibilities
  • To take care of and respect the host club's facilities
  • To conduct themselves in the appropriate manner at all times
  • To register each tournament day, a minimum of 45 minutes prior to their allocated tee time
  • To report to the tee and be ready to play 10 minutes prior to their allocated tee time
  • To find out the requirements of the host club in terms of spikes and trolley policies etc
  • To communicate with the courses directly in times of inclement weather, when tournament are under threat of abandonment
Practice Rounds Players will be informed of any practice round arrangements prior to each event. Practice rounds are not guaranteed, they are always subject to availability and are to be paid for at the time and to each club directly by each competitor.
Points System

The following points system will be in operation for all Prospects Tour events:

  • The winner of each event will receive 30 points
  • The second placed player(s) will receive 25 points
  • The third placed player(s) will receive 22 points
  • The fourth placed player(s) will receive 20 points
  • Players placed fifth placed descending to twentieth place will receive nineteen point reducing to four points respectively
  • All other players returning a score will receive 1 point
Nil Returns NR's are not encouraged and will only be accepted for good reasons, ie. injury.
Countback Procedure

At each event, count-back will be in operation. It will work as follows:

Last 18 holes, back nine of second or only round, back six of second or only round, back three of second or only round, and last hole of second or only round.

Only round refers to the possible loss of either of the two days play at any two-day event.

Accommodation, Meals & Transport It is the responsibility of each competitors to arrange his own accommodation, transport and subsistence during the period of Prospects Tour events.
Insurance The Prospects Tour will provide insurance cover for each Regular Member and Official Reserve at all events. The risks insured against are Public Liability and player to player injury. The cost for this insurance is included within the initial cost of joining the tour.
Declaration Form Each competitor will be expected to sign a Prospects Tour Declaration Form agreeing to abide by the Tournament Rules and Regulations and accepting that the decision of the Tournament Director is final
Prizes

Each individual tour event winner and runner-up will receive a trophy and an invitation into the Prospects UK Open over 72 holes at Chart Hills Golf Club.

The overall tour winner will receive a trophy, UKP300 and an invitation to the Prospects Tour UK Open.
The runner up will receive a trophy, UKP150 and an invitation to the Prospects Tour UK Open.
The third placed player will receive a trophy, UKP100 and an invitation to the Prospects Tour UK Open.
