NATIONAL NINES
SENIORS
BETTERBALL 2000
Another in a
series of exciting competitions designed
solely for 9 hole golf clubs - the National Nines Seniors Betterball
2000 is now open for entries.
The inaugural
event took place earlier this year with the National Final being
held at Les Ormes Golf Club in Jersey, Channel Islands as part of
the National Nines Golf Classic week.
It resulted
in a 1 hole win for Ian Cooke and Jack Counsell of Breightmet GC
near Bolton who jsut edged out Tom Winkworth and Brian Tyers of
Harrow School GC in Middlesex.
The 2000 event
will see only one change, albeit a major one!
All 4 semi-finalist
paris will make the journey to Jersey in Septmeber 2000 wehre all
the semi-fials and finas of the evnets cmoprising hte National Nines
Golf Series 2000 will take place. Flights and accommodation will
be paid for by the sponsors.
Competition
Rules:
All rounds will
be played on a local and then regional basis to minimise traveling.
It is hoped
that courtesy of the course will be extended to visiting pairs but
should a green free be payable, then it should be shared between
both pairs.
Eligibility:
Pairs must consist of gentlemen members of a 9-hole golf club
affiliated to the respective county and national golf unions of
england, Scotland or Wales.
Format: Betterball
matchplay at 7/8 handicap.
Entry Fee:
The entry fee will be £20 per pair.
Entries close
on 20 February 2000.
First round
ties will commence in April 2000.
