Strong Field at Pulborough

In a field of 82 for The English Ladies’ Close Amateur Championship at West Sussex Golf Club no less than 21 entrants have handicaps of one or better, with back marker Rebecca Hudson from Wheatley enjoying a handicap of plus 3. Other players boasting plus handicaps in the event are Fiona Brown (Heswall), Kim Andrew (Clitheroe), Chloe Court (Goodwood), Kirsty Fisher (Royal Lytham & St Annes), Kerry Smith (Waterlooville), Kirsty Taylor (Sandford Springs) and, the holder, Emma Duggleby (Malton & Norton). The Championship is the second qualifying event for the English Ladies’ Order of Merit Table, currently led by Fiona Brown from Rebecca Hudson.

Early Club Champions

Some interesting early Club Championship winners include former professional Beverly New who has won the Somerset title, Former ELGA Silver Tee Award winner, Nicola Timmins, who is Kent Champion and new Gloucestershire Champion, Claire Lipscombe. Nesta Woolford has taken the Oxfordshire title and Rachel Adby is Cheshire Champion.
