The 73rd Staffordshire Ladies' County Championship is to be held at Leek Golf Club on 3rd, 4th and 5th May next.  This year's event has attracted 33 entries, all of whom will be competing for the Viscountess Lewisham Cup - awarded to the Championship winner.

The competitors will each play 36 holes on day one, with the best 16 scores qualifying for the match-play stages, to be held over the second and third days.  The leading qualifier will succeed in winning the inscribed Wedgwood Bowl.  The 1999 County Champion, Corrine Campion, (Ingestre Park), will be defending her title.

The Final is scheduled for 1.45 p.m. prompt on Friday, 5th May.

Sponsored by Josiah Wedgwood and Sons Limited for the 17th successive year, the event will be concluded with the presentation of the Viscountess Lewisham Cup and the Wedgwood Bowl, together with prizes for the runners-up and Wedgwood mementoes for the leading scores returned in the qualifying rounds.  Miss Gaye Blake Roberts, Curator of the Wedgwood Museum, will unfortunately be unable to be present this year, and the presentations will be made by another representative of the Company.
