The first annual John Jacobs Golf Classic Tournament to raise funds for Wessex Heartbeat, the hardworking charity that supports the Wessex Cardiac unit, has found a main sponsor.  Bournemouth based tyre specialist Mike Stokes First Stop have agreed to be the main sponsor for the tournament on Thursday 24th August organised by the Canford Magna Golf Complex and Club near Wimborne.  John Jacobs who is highly regarded internationally as one of golf’s most influential personalities, will attend not only to present prizes, but to provide a special golf clinic.  Radio 2 presenter Ed “Stewpot” Stewart is the first of many of the invited celebrities to confirm that he will play on the day.

Trevor Smith, Managing Director of Canford Magna Golf Club says that he is delighted that Mike Stokes and his company has agreed to support the first tournament which they expect to become one of the top golfing events in the south, to be held on the championship Parkland Course that spans some of the picturesque 350 acres near to the river Stour.  ‘This will ensure that as much money as possible can be raised for Wessex Heartbeat.  We have been impressed with the number of teams that have already applied for entry forms.’

The closing date for entries is 1st August but Trevor Smith doubts that any spaces will be available by then.  Anyone wishing further information should contact Canford Magna Golf Club 01202 592 505.
