Launches North of Ireland Amateur
Open Golf Championships
Today
Carlsberg announced its sponsorship of the Carlsberg North of Ireland
Golf Championship for the 6th year.
Northern
Ireland’s leading amateur golf event ‘The Carlsberg North’ has become
a highlight of the sporting calendar in Ulster and has become a
breading ground for some of Ireland’s best international golfers.
The
competition held between the 10th and 14th
of July will see 300 top amateur golfers battle it out at Royal
Portrush Golf Club’s world famous Dunluce course, including players
from Scotland, Wales, South Africa and the Irish Republic.
Colm
McGarrigle, Carlsberg Marketing Manager said:“Carlsberg
are delighted to be involved with the North of Ireland Amateur Open
Golf Championships for another year. Carlsberg as the province’s leading continental
lager has a cosmopolitan edge that sits well with the championship.
The ‘Carlsberg North’ is the highlight of amateur golf in
the province and as it has for many years, Carlsberg’s presence
will be felt both on the course and at surrounding venues.”
Lindsay
Shanks, Chairman of the Golfing Union of Ireland, Ulster Branch
said:
“Once
again we are privileged to have such a talented field at this year’s
‘Carlsberg North’. When
you consider how far Darren Clarke has come since winning the event
in 1990, it is perfect inspiration for our top amateurs.
We fully expect this years competition to be most enjoyable
whether we are watching the golf or talking about it with a pint
of Carlsberg.”
