Essex Golf Partnership is announcing Swing Into Spring, a major drive to open up the game of golf to newcomers and lapsed players. Starting in early February, golf clubs and driving ranges across the county are supporting a new initiative to give all adults the chance to try the sport - at deeply discounted prices. Thirty four clubs and ranges in the county are backing Swing Into Spring by offering packages of eight group lessons, each of an hour, with qualified PGA professional coaches. The lessons will cover all aspects of the game including basic swing, pitching, putting and bunker play. Equipment is provided. All participants need to do is wear something comfortable. This is an easy and accessible route into the game for beginners, and there is no need to make an immediate investment. County Development Officer Helen Tarttelin said, 'The lessons will provide a fun and structured introduction to the sport and give people the chance to sample both the game and the atmosphere at the clubs taking part without having to spend a lot of money. It's a great opportunity to give it a go and meet new friends.' PGA professional Tom Hide of Frinton Golf Club said, 'There's a lot of interest in golf now, especially given the success of British players on the world stage. For anyone interested in taking up the sport, this is an ideal opportunity. It's never too late to take up golf or return to the game.' Anyone interested is asked to book their sessions directly with the club or range they want to attend. You can find a full list of participating clubs, driving ranges and contact details at www.essexgolfpartnership.com .
Swing Into Spring follows on from two very successful structured group coaching programmes in 2011, which introduced 250 newcomers into the game and provided lots of discounted follow-on coaching and memberships.
