If Gym can't fix it - try Northumberland Golf Clubs If gym can't fix it for you, then a new scheme in Northumberland can help put you on course for a healthier lifestyle. Golf clubs across the county have signed up to deliver free golf lessons to help local people spring into summer. Get into Golf sessions are being held at 12 clubs and are open to anyone looking to take up the sport or who is interested in returning to golf. They are open to anyone aged 16 years or older and the only stipulation is that you are not a member of a golf club. Lisa Ferrie, county development officer for the Northumberland County Golf Partnership, says: “ The gym isn't for everyone, but if your new year's resolution was to get fit or try something new, why not try golf. “This scheme means you can try it completely free; all equipment will be provided. It is a fantastic opportunity for people to try a new sport or get back into a sport they used to enjoy and got out of the habit of playing. “I would encourage people to come along and try, it is a great way to meet people and participate in a low impact sport.” Anyone interested should simply call the venue of choice and register. If the sessions are full or there isn't one that suits your schedule email getintogolf@yahoo.com and you will be contacted when more sessions become available. Coaching sessions are also open to any groups or organisations in Northumberland who should contact getintogolf@yahoo.com to register their interest. Disability golf sessions are also available.
