Five England internationals are included in the preliminary GB&I Curtis Cup squad and a sixth is named as reserve.

The squad of 12, which also includes three Irish players, two Scots and two Welsh golfers, was named today by the Ladies Golf Union.

The biennial match between GB&I and the USA will take place at
Nairn Golf Club, Scotland, from 8-10 June 2012.

The squad players, watched by team captain Tegwen Matthews and the LGU International Selection Panel, will take part in a three-day team trial over Nairn's  championship links from Friday to Sunday, March 23 to 25. The Curtis Cup team and reserves will be announced on Tuesday, March 27.

The England squad players are:

Holly Clyburn (Woodhall Spa), 20, who played in the 2010 Curtis Cup

Charley Hull (Woburn), 15, the English and Welsh strokeplay champion

Bronte Law (Bramhall), 16, the Scottish U16 strokeplay champion;

Lauren Taylor (Woburn), 17, the 2011 British ladies' championship  - the youngest-ever titleholder - and the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year;

Kelly Tidy (Royal Birkdale), 19, the 2010 British champion and a semi-finalist in the 2011 event.
The reserve is Georgia Hall (Remedy Oak), 15, also a ladies' and girls' international and a semi-finalist in the British girls' championship.

The players are all experienced internationals. Holly Clyburn has represented GB&I in the Curtis Cup and, with Kelly Tidy, was in the winning Astor Trophy team and the side for the Vagliano Trophy matches. Charley Hull, Bronte Law and Georgia Hall played in the inaugural Junior Vagliano Trophy match. Charley and Lauren Taylor represented Europe in the Junior Solheim Cup.

All six were members of England's winning team at the 2011 Ladies' Home Internationals. Lauren, Bronte and Georgia also helped England girls win a European championship silver medal while Bronte and Georgia were in the winning team at the girls' Home Internationals.
