Roger Hill takes up the reins of Chairman at Marlborough Golf Club

Marlborough, United Kingdom 1 st March, 2010. Marlborough Golf Club ( www.marlboroughgolfclub.co.uk ) established in 1888, and a leading member's golf club located in Wiltshire is delighted to announce the appointment of Roger Hill as chairman of the golf club.  Roger was voted in during the Annual General Meeting of the Club held on Monday 22 nd February.

Roger, now retired, was the managing director and chairman of Intergraph Corporation, a computer company headquartered in Swindon.  He is a member of the board of the Great Western Hospital and a very keen sailor.  Roger has been a member of the Marlborough Golf Club for over 10 years and previously held the position of seniors chairman and for the last 4 years has been chairman of the greens committee.  During his time as head of this committee, members and visitors have recognised his team's significant contribution to the improvement and development of the course which is often referred to as one of the finest in Wiltshire.

“I am both honoured and privileged to be appointed club chairman. Marlborough has a fabulous history which all of our members acknowledge and respect.  It will be incumbent upon me and my team of sub-committees working closely with our general manager, Les Trute, to ensure that we continue to guide the Club forward in a way that future generations are also able to enjoy the benefits of our first class golf facilities. In addition, we have a great spirit of friendship and respect within our Club which is very important to each and every member and visitor, something that I will be keen to ensure continues.” comments Roger.

Roger replaces retiring chairman Gordon Kenneth, who held the position for 2 years.  Gordon adds “Roger is passionate about our Golf Club and anyone who knows him, appreciates his commitment to developing the Club.  He is aware that this role is not without its many challenges, however member satisfaction balanced with long term financial viability of the Club are certainly foremost in his mind.  I wish him every success and am certain that all the members will support Roger and his team during his term in office.”
