Boys Amateur Championship For the first time in its history the Championship will be staged at two venues Kilmarnock (Barassie) and Dundonald Links
The championship will be played from the 10 – 15 August 2010 - last years champion was Tom Lewis (England) Kilmarnock (Barassie) will once again add to its fine championship pedigree when it acts as the main host for the 2010 Boys Amateur Championship. Since starting its long association with R&A championships in 1948, when it welcomed the Boys Amateur for the first time, Barassie has staged five Boys Home Internationals, two Jacques Leglise Trophy matches, stroke play qualifying for the 2001 Amateur Championship and a further four Boys Amateurs – not to mention having previously acted as a final qualifying venue when The Open has arrived at Royal Troon or Turnberry. Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club is located on the outskirts of Troon on Scotland's west coast and has been offering golfers a magnificent links golf challenge in Ayrshire for over one hundred years. Recently the Club has been delighted to welcome increasing numbers of visitors from the United States, and Europe - particularly from Sweden and Germany - as well as the rest of the UK and Ireland. Within striking distance of Royal Troon, Prestwick and Turnberry, the course itself is an Open Championship Final Qualifying venue with a well deserved reputation for some of the best maintained greens in Scotland. The club now has twenty seven holes with which to test the golfer complemented by excellent facilities in the clubhouse and professional's shop. For the first time, in 2010, the Boys Amateur will be stages across two venues. Consequently, in addition to the match play venue, nearby Dundonald Links will host stroke play qualifying rounds over the first two days of the Championship. Opened in 2003, Dundonald has already hosted the Duke of York Young Champions Trophy event, as well as qualifying for The Senior Open Championship.
