Olympic gold medallists host charity golf day
Olympic rowers Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent will be visiting Northampton next month to host a golf day in aid of youth charity The Prince's Trust.
Sir Steve Redgrave, five times Olympic gold medallist and Sir Matthew Pinsent, four times Olympic gold medallist, will be competing alongside players at the event at Collingtree golf course.
Tickets to the event, on St George's Day, Thursday 23 April, will include breakfast, use of the driving range, 18 holes of golf and a three course meal.
Sir Steve Redgrave, who retired from rowing in 2000, said: “I am passionate about the work of The Prince's Trust, which has changed the lives of hundreds of thousands young people. This fundraising golf day will aim to support hundreds more young people across the region.”
Both Sir Redgrave and Sir Pinsent will support the fundraising day which will include a charity auction and raffle.
BBC broadcaster Sir Matthew Pinsent said: “We are both looking forward to the golf day on St George's Day. We are always keen to get involved with sport as we are both very competitive individuals.”
The Prince's Trust works with 14- to 30-year-olds who have struggled at school, have been in care, are long-term unemployed or have been in trouble with the law.
The Prince of Wales' charity has helped more than 575,000 young people since 1976 and supports 100 more each working day.
