Pat Sutton steps up to role of Ladies Captain of Marlborough Golf Club
16th November, 2009

Lady Captain Pat Sutton and Club Captain David Jackson

Marlborough Golf Club
established in 1888, and a leading members golf club located in Wiltshire is delighted to announce Pat Sutton as Lady Captain for 2009/2010 year.  Pat will be ably supported by her Vice Captain, Wendy Lappin and a dedicated Ladies Committee.

During more than 20 years of membership, Pat has been an active member of the Club and is well known within the County.  In her role as Vice Captain supporting Trish King she has had a busy year organising the Ladies and Mixed Friendly Match programme, which saw Club members enjoy games at a variety of Clubs during the year.  Pat has won a number of Club trophies and competitions over the years and currently plays off a handicap of 16.

“There is no doubt that 2009, which happens to mark the 100 th year of the Ladies Section at Marlborough, has been a superb year for us.  Winning the Wiltshire League for second year in succession was a wonderful achievement.

Our Lady members are really enjoying great success.  Trish has set a fine example as Lady Captain, I am truly honoured to be selected for the position this year.  I know it is a vital role within the Club with challenges that I will relish.  I am delighted to have Wendy Lappin as my Vice Captain. Many who know Wendy appreciate she brings with her a great deal of golf experience and has also been involved with other Clubs, which will help us to continue to develop and establish best practices at Marlborough,” comments Pat Sutton.

Marlborough has enjoyed a successful year, attracting new members, it also has a vibrant Junior Division and the course is in tip top condition.  Three reasons often heard from members of Marlborough Golf Club when asked why they join the Club are (1) quality of course, (2) no tee times and (3) good club atmosphere.

“On behalf of the entire Club, we congratulate Pat and wish her every success in the year ahead.  Pat has great support from all the members and I have no doubt she will make a positive contribution to the overall development of the Club.” added Les Trute, General Manager, Marlborough Golf Club.
