GREAT GIFTS FOR GOLFERS

Champions put EWGA in the show spotlight
2nd December 2009

Champion golfers Charlie Douglass, Rachel Jennings, Hannah Barwood and Charlotte Ellis put EWGA in the spotlight at last weekend's NEC Golf Show in Birmingham.

The quartet of top England players were star guests on EWGA's stand at the show  where they met visitors, including the comedian Jasper Carrott.

They talked about their golfing experiences at the top of the amateur game and they helped to highlight EWGA's work on behalf of England's women and girl club golfers.

They also took part in on-stage interviews, showed off their skills in a nearest-the-pin challenge on the show's state-of-the-art simulators – and encouraged visitors to take part in competitions on the EWGA stand, which were supported by PING and Heidsieck Champagne.

Charlie, who plays at Brocket Hall, is the reigning English champion. Rachel (Izaak Walton), Hannah (Knowle) and Charlotte (Minchinhampton) have all held national titles and all four are England internationals.

EWGA was invited to take part in the show to spread the message about its role as the governing body for women's amateur golf in England.

Golf Show Group chief executive Colin Brunton said: “We're delighted to have EWGA at the show. We do all we can to cater for women at our shows and to have the support of the association is a real feather in our cap.”
