EWGA Trust charity day cancelled

23 March 2009

The charity golf day in support of the EWGA Trust has been cancelled because of a lack of team entries.

The event was to have been held at Cambridge Meridian Golf Club on Friday, April 17.

The Trust is the charity of the English Women's Golf Association and supports girls' golf with grants for coaching, equipment and tournament expenses. However its income has fallen sharply over recent years and it has been forced to cut back on awards.

Sally Goulds, the chairman of the Trust management committee, said: “We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported our plans for the charity day, either by entering a team or giving us a donation or gifts of prizes.

“We are very disappointed that we have had to cancel the event because we had hoped it would provide a significant boost to our funds. We shall now have to look for other ways to increase the Trust's income.”
